Authorities say a man is facing "life-threatening" injuries after he attempted to cross Victory Drive without the aid of a crosswalk Sunday, according to a Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident report.

A witness told police he passed the victim at about 6:40 p.m. The man was reportedly standing on the sidewalk and looking for an opportunity to cross.

After the witness passed in his vehicle, the man attempted to run across, darting in front of a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado traveling north near Benning Drive.

When the driver collided with the man, it reportedly caused extensive damage to the Chevrolet and critical injuries to the pedestrian.

The victim, whose age was not immediately available, was transported to Midtown Medical Center. The speed of the driver was not immediately available.
