Cancun, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Glover scored 24 points to lead Oral Roberts past Georgia Southern, 67-65, in the opening round of the Cancun portion of the 2013 Cancun Classic.
Glover shot 10-of-18 from the floor and scored the final seven points of the contest for Oral Roberts (3-3), which snapped a two-game losing skid. Korey Billbury added 21 points and eight rebounds, and Jorden Kaufman had 10 points off the bench.
Jelani Hewitt filled the stat sheet with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the losing effort for GSU (2-4), which has lost three straight. Curtis Diamond and Tre Bussey went for 12 and 11 points, respectively. Bussey failed to eclipse the 20-point mark for the first time this season.
Glover made 3-of-4 from the foul line in the last 20 seconds to give ORU a seven-point edge. Hewitt drilled a 3 with seven seconds left and D.J. Jackson missed a pair of free throws for Oral Roberts before Kyle Doyle's layup at the buzzer resulted in the final margin.
Glover's jumper 3:51 into the second half put Oral Roberts in front 39-26 before GSU made its run. A Diamond triple with 2:08 left made it a six-point game and Hewitt followed with two free throws.
