Fort Benning Road man repeatedly stabbed

A 39-year-old man was stabbed multiple times following an argument outside Pure gas station Monday, according to a Columbus Police report.

The victim told police that Jerry Wayne Merrit, 47, stabbed him repeatedly with an unknown weapon. He had stab injuries to his lower back, shoulder and both thighs, but was not transported to a hospital.

No additional information about the events leading up to the stabbing was available.

Merrit was charged with aggravated battery and transported to Muscogee County Jail.
