2013 list of popular baby names is full of surprises

2013's list of 100 most popular baby names is in — and Aiden is out. For the first time in several years, another name knocked Aiden from its No. 1 perch as the favorite boy's name (though Aiden was only knocked down a peg, to No. 2).

The most popular boy's name for 2013, according to BabyCenter.com? Jackson. For girls, it's Sophia.

The list is drawn from mothers who registered their 555,000 births this year with the site.

New names in the top 100 include Jayce, Muhammad, Adalyn and Liliana.

"We saw a marked change this year," Linda Murray, BabyCenter's global editor in chief, told USA Today. "(Parents) want a name that feels important to them. Looking back into your own family tree is a way to find a person meaningful to you. We see the search for meaning in this generation really starting to show up in the baby-naming ranks."
