Recap: Fordham vs. Furman

Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jon Severe scored 23 points as the Fordham Rams routed the Furman Paladins, 79-48, in a non-conference tilt at Rose Hill Gym.

Mandell Thomas scored 19 points for the Rams (4-2). Ryan Rhoomes had a double- double with 15 points and 14 rebounds while adding three blocks. Bryan Smith helped on the glass with 12 boards and Branden Frazier handed out nine assists.

Dominic Early led the Paladins (3-4) with 21 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Stephen Croone chipped in 11 points and four steals, but he also turned the ball over six times.

Fordham took a 49-24 lead into the half thanks to 50 percent shooting from the field and 6-of-14 from 3-point range. Furman shot 40 percent from the floor but missed all six 3-point attempts.

Things didn't get better for Furman after the break as the Paladins shot a meager 27.3 percent on field goal attempts and missed all five shots from beyond the arc. Fordham maintained its lead by shooting 42.9 percent on field goal tries.

The Rams dominated on the glass by outrebounding the visitors 45-25. Fordham never trailed in the game.
