Recap: Seton Hall vs. Long Island

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Brian Oliver scored a season-high 26 points as the Seton Hall Pirates downed the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, 92-81, in non- conference action at the Prudential Center.

Oliver shot 8-of-17 coming off the bench, all from beyond the arc. Eugene Teague tallied a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds for Seton Hall (5-3), Sterling Gibbs added 16 points and five assists, and Brandon Mobley contributed 14 points and seven boards.

For LIU Brooklyn (2-5), Jason Brickman registered 19 points and nine assists, while E.J. Reed had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Chris Carter (12 points), Landon Atterberry (11) and Gerrell Martin (10) were also active for the visitors.

Seton Hall shot 48.5 percent from the field in the first half, while LIU Brooklyn wasn't far behind at 44.4 percent, but the Pirates carried a comfortable 53-36 advantage into intermission behind a 9-of-22 showing from 3- point range. They also made 12-of-16 at the foul line in the opening 20 minutes.

The Blackbirds got no closer than nine points of the lead in the second half.

On top of draining 14 3-pointers, Seton Hall was able to score 17 points off of 13 LIU Brooklyn turnovers. The Pirates committed just six turnovers themselves.
