Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Mobley paced all scorers with 18 points as the Seton Hall Pirates downed the NJIT Highlanders, 71-55, in a Garden State showdown at the Prudential Center.
Jaren Sina put up 17 points for Seton Hall (7-3), which has won three straight, while Sterling Gibbs and Eugene Teague added 16 and 11 points, respectively. Teague also hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds.
For NJIT (6-5), Damon Lynn was the only player in double figures with 16 points, doing so on 4-of-9 from 3-point range.
Seton Hall shot a modest 42.3 percent from the field in the first half, slightly better than NJIT's 40 percent, as it carried a 31-28 lead into intermission.
The Pirates improved their field goal efficiency in the second stanza to 54.2 percent and used a late 10-0 run to distance themselves from the Highlanders.
Seton Hall held a convincing 34-25 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored NJIT from the foul line, 16-8.
