Recap: Duquesne vs. Penn State

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Frazier scored 11 points and handed out 13 assists in leading the Penn State Nittany Lions to a 68-59 victory over the Duquesne Dukes during a non-conference tussle at the CONSOL Energy Center.

Allen Roberts was the leading scorer for Penn State (8-3) with 15 points off the bench. D.J. Newbill added 13 points and Donovon Jack brought in 12 rebounds and blocked six shots. The Nittany Lions have won back-to-back games after a two-game slide.

Ovie Soko lead all scorers with 19 points to go with nine rebounds for Duquesne (3-4). Dominique McKoy completed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Jeremiah Jones added 12 points.

Neither team had much success from the floor in the first half. Penn State managed to connect on just 36.4 percent of its shots, including 5-of-14 from beyond the arc. Duquesne was even worse, making good on 25 percent from the field to enter halftime trailing 35-26.

After the break the Nittany Lions improved to an even 50 percent shooting rate while the Dukes were once again below 30 percent.

The Dukes lost despite a 21-7 scoring advantage at the free-throw line. Penn State had more points in the paint (28-22).
