Great Weekend for Loewen

Posted on December 15, 2013

Andrew Loewen was already have a pretty good weekend. He and the Columbus Cottonmouths picked up two big road Ws in Louisiana on Thursday and Huntsville last night.

Then this morning, Andrew got a call from the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) asking him to report for their 2 PM game. Number 34 in their program, but #1 in your hearts, Loewen went through warmups and took his place on the bench.

Matt Cooper took his place between the pipes for the Glads. Visiting Orlando took a 1-0 lead after the first period. Cooper gave up a pair of goals only 1:08 apart and the coach yanked him and replaced him with Andrew.

Andrew stopped 14 of 16 shots and Gwinnett lost the game 5-2.

I'm happy to report that Andrew's wife, Morgan, was able to go up there with him and that the Loewens are headed home at this hour.

       How exciting!

       Stay tuned.
