On the Sidelines

When the Snakes travel to Biloxi on Friday, expect to see one familiar face back, but another missing.

Defenseman Mike Switzer has resumed practice with the team. Though he hasn't officially been cleared to play yet, the game plan has Mike back in the lineup this weekend. Great news for Mike and the Snakes!

Assistant coach Brad Prefontaine will direct the team on Friday night as head coach Jerome Bechard was fined and suspended for his actions during Saturday night's game in Huntsville.

Jerome's protest of referee Curtis Marouelli's skills and judgment came at the 13:07 mark of the first period. Jerome heaved a water bottle and stormed on to the ice, getting his money's worth before exiting.

It was a well-timed departure which, as is often the case, got the team on the proverbial same page. The Snakes trailed 1-0 at the time of Jerome's fit and then proceeded to reel off three unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 victory.

The suspension is only for one game, so expect to see Jerome behind the bench on Saturday night at the Snake Pit.

      Stay tuned.
