Firefighters with the Phenix City Fire Department were battling a fire at a cleaning business on 14th Place late Wednesday.

Firefighters found the building with flames in the roof about 7:15 p.m. The fire sent white smoke shooting into the night sky, creating a haze in the area.

Using an aerial ladder above the building, firefighters were still dumping water on the building two hours later.

No details were available on whether the business fire caused smoke in the downtown Columbus area.

At least three fire trucks were on the scene with firefighters battling the fire.
