Need an excuse to get out of the house that doesn't involve buying Christmas presents?

'100 Under $100 Sale'

Want to buy some original art but can't afford it?

You might be able to do that at the Joseph House Art Gallery: 828 Broadway.

The always popular "100 Under $100 Sale" features gallery artists who have created 100 pieces of art that will sell for less than $100 each.

For a short time, the Joseph House's "Postcards from the Past" art book will be available for $15.

This goes on through Dec. 30.

The gallery is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday (closed Christmas day).

Free admission.

'A Christmas Carol'

You only have four more chances to see "A Christmas Carol."

This is a new musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale by Springer Opera House producing artistic director Paul Pierce and retired Columbus State University Schwob School of Music professor Paul Vander Gheynst.

It can be seen at 7:30 tonight-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Springer, 103 10th St.

Tickets are $40; $34 for seniors and public service personnel; $17 for children and students.

Pre-show dinners available at 6 tonight-Saturday; must be reserved 48 hours in advance for $18.

Call 706-327-3688.

'A Tuna Christmas'

It's the final week of "A Tuna Christmas," which chronicles the Christmas goings-on in the third smallest town in Texas.

And that means those two wacky actors, Pierce and Ron Anderson, associate artistic director and director of the Springer Theater Academy, are back at it, playing all the residents (including animals).

It can be seen at 7:30 tonight-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday; also, 7:30 p.m. Monday-Tuesday in the McClure Theatre, 1022 First Ave. Tickets are $37; $32 for seniors and public service personnel; $17 for children and students.

Call 706-327-3688.

Jazz at The Loft

Friday Jazz at The Loft is 7-9 p.m. at 1032 Broadway. Unlike the other clubs in town, for this concert, all ages are welcome.

The Friday night concert is a Columbus Jazz Society Fundraiser and will feature the best musicians and singers from the area.

It's free.

Call 706-596-8141.

'The Nutcracker'

"The Nutcracker" may be the most popular ballet ever.

It's performed somewhere in the United States every December.

The Columbus Ballet presents the holiday favorite at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Bill Heard Theatre, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway.

Tickets are $21-$28.
