Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Taylor scored 18 points and Jordan Loveridge posted a double-double as the Utah Utes claimed a 69-50 victory over the Texas State Bobcats in a non-league battle at the Huntsman Center.
Loveridge finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Utah (10-1) and Delon Wright added 13 points.
Emani Gant tallied 16 points to pace Texas State (3-8), which also got 11 points and seven rebounds from Corey Stern.
Utah connected on only 34.8 percent of its shots from the floor, but got 13 points at the free-throw line, to take a 31-22 lead at halftime. Texas State had only eight field goals in the first frame.
The Utes heated up to 50 percent shooting after the break, including a 5-of-9 effort from beyond the arc, to coast to the finish. The Bobcats shot at a 38.5 percent clip in the period, but missed all five attempts from 3-point range.
Texas State managed a 30-20 scoring edge in the paint. Utah scored 19 points off of turnovers.
