One vehicle-accident claims Roanoke, Ala. man near LaFayette

A 23-year-old man died late Monday after the vehicle he was driving crashed on U.S. 431 near LaFayette and overturned, Alabama State Troopers said.

Charlie Quartaz Lewis of Roanoke was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:25 p.m. crash.

Troopers said Lewis was driving a 2006 Chevrolet when the vehicle left the road about 10 miles south of LaFayette. Lewis wasn’t wearing a seat belt, said

Trooper Kevin Cook, a spokesman for the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

The accident remains under investigation by the troopers.
