21 arrested at four checkpoints in LaGrange, Ga.

Four safety check points in LaGrange, Ga., netted 21 arrests and 42 citations on Tuesday night, authorities said.

During a five-hour period, the LaGrange Police Department and Troup County Sheriff’s Department conducted two check points on LaFayette Parkway and one each on Franklin Road and Whitesville Road. Beginning at 10 p.m., the officers focused on intoxicated drivers, driving without a valid driver’s license and required vehicle insurance.

At least 10 were charged with possession of marijuana, six for driving under the influence, four with a suspended driver’s license and one with an open container of alcoholic beverage.

In addition to the arrests, officers seized two handguns, including one reported stolen from the Atlanta area.
