Shenzhen, China (SportsNetwork.com) - Li Na captured her second straight Shenzhen Open title with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Peng Shuai in an all-Chinese final at the hardcourt tune-up for the Australian Open.
Li took control Saturday by winning the final three games of the first set and four of the first five in the second. Peng, though, won the next four to grab a 5-4 edge, but the top-seeded Li took the final three to claim her first title since capturing this tournament last year.
The world No. 3 former French Open champion won last year's inaugural Shenzhen title by beating Czech Klara Zakopalova in the finale.
It was Li's eighth career title and gave her a record of 8-11 all-time in finals. She also improved to 6-1 lifetime against Peng, including a 5-0 mark on Chinese soil.
Peng, seeded fifth this week, fell to 0-6 lifetime in title matches.
Li earned a first prize of $111,163.
