NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.Gus Malzahn's name has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Cleveland Browns' vacancy, which opened Sunday after Rob Chudzinski was relieved of his coaching duties.

When asked about his interest in an NFL position on Friday, Malzahn quickly — and curtly — shot it down.

"I'm happy at Auburn," he said, "and I think I've made that clear."

Malzahn, in his first year at the helm of the Tigers' program, has led the team to a 12-1 record and an SEC championship. Auburn plays Florida State in the BCS championship game Monday night.

The coach agreed to a new, six-year contract worth $26.85 million on Dec. 6, one day before Auburn beat Missouri in the SEC title game 59-42.
