Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Furman

Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Paced by 18 points from Kayel Locke, the UNC Greensboro Spartans outlasted the Furman Paladins, 90-82, in a Southern Conference showdown at Greensboro Coliseum.

Tevon Saddler added 17 points for UNCG (8-9, 1-1 SoCon), which snapped a two- game losing slide. Nicholas Paulos and Kyle Cain netted 14 and 12 points, respectively.

For Furman (6-9, 0-2), Stephen Croone and Kendrec Ferrara poured in 21 points apiece, with the duo combining to shoot 17-of-20 from the free-throw line. Larry Wideman and William Gates both chipped in 10 points for the visitors.

A tightly-contested first half ended with UNCG leading, 38-34. The Spartans shot an impressive 48.4 percent from the field in the opening stanza, with Furman not far behind at 47.4 percent.

With the game tied at 45 with under 16 minutes to play, Paulos drilled a 3- pointer for UNCG to give it the lead. The Spartans clung to the advantage for the rest of the contest, and up by only two with just over two minutes left, they ripped off a 10-2 run to finally pull away.

Furman lost despite shooting 50 percent from the field and 78.8 percent from the foul line. It simply couldn't keep pace with UNCG, which finished a blistering 57.6 percent from the floor.
