Recap: Virginia vs. Wake Forest

Charlottesville, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 14 points from Malcolm Brogdon, the Virginia Cavaliers took down the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 74-51, in an Atlantic Coast Conference bout at John Paul Jones Arena.

For the Cavaliers (11-4, 2-0 ACC), Joe Harris and Justin Anderson each added 11 points and Anthony Gill chipped in with 10.

Coron Williams led the Demon Deacons (11-4, 1-1) with 11 points.

In the opening period, Virginia knocked down 50 percent of its shots from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range, as the Cavaliers went into halftime leading 41-24. Wake Forest was limited to just 36.4 percent shooting and 2-of-10 from beyond the arc.

After intermission the Cavaliers again connected on 50 percent of their field goal tries. The Demon Deacons continued to struggle from the floor, making only 34.6 percent of their field goal attempts, including 2-of-7 from 3-point distance. Virginia pushed its lead to as many as 32 points as the Cavaliers cruised to victory.

Virginia dominated in the front court, outscoring Wake Forest 34-22 in the paint and out-rebounding the Deacons 38-25. The Cavaliers also forced 15 turnovers, converting them into 23 points.
