More than two weeks after he asked the Russell County Circuit Court to revoke the bond of murder-for-hire suspect Lisa L. Graham, it appears that her estranged husband, Kevin S. Graham, isn’t listed on her bond, according to court records and the defendant’s attorney.

Margaret Y. Brown, one of two defense attorneys for Lisa Graham, filed a response to the husband’s Dec. 27 request on Jan. 9. Kevin Graham told the court that he’s the lone survivor of the joint property on Westside Court in Phenix City after the Dec. 15 death of Warren Thompson.

The husband claimed the property was used to post bond for Lisa Graham, who is charged with capital murder in the death of their 20-year-old daughter, Stephanie Shea Graham. Lisa Graham, 46, is accused of hiring a family worker, Kenneth R. Walton, to kill her daughter in July 2007.

After spending more than five years in jail, the defendant facing two counts of capital murder was released on total bonds of $250,000. The bonds were made through AAAa Bonding as the surety. Under the terms of the bond, AAAa Bonding must pay the state $100,000 unless the defendant appears before the Circuit Court on the specified date and time.

“He is not listed on the bond,” Brown said of the estranged husband.

In a statement to judge Jacob A. Walker II, the district attorney office and the sheriff, the husband said, “I want no part of her bond and I want my name and property released from the bond.”

Brown noted in her response that her client hasn’t received a copy of any request from Kevin Graham. “Defendant is not aware of any authority that would allow the court to entertain such a request from a non-surety, Kevin Graham to make this request, or require a response to the alleged request concerning being removed from the defendant’s bond,” court records show.

Graham’s attorney has asked the court to cancel any hearing in the bond unless properly filed by the state of Alabama for cause.

A bond hearing for Lisa Graham was set for Thursday before Judge Jacob A. Walker III. The court has delayed that hearing until 3:30 p.m. EST Jan. 27 at the Russell County Judicial Building.

Kevin Graham couldn’t be reached Tuesday for comment.

Correction: an earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the man Lisa Graham is accused of hiring to kill her daughter as Kenneth Walker.
