Manufacturing job fair set Friday at Goodwill center in Columbus

Jane Nichols, CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, welcomes people to the grand opening ceremony for Goodwill's new retail store and donation center in Phenix City Wednesday morning. The store officially opened to the public after a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting, witnessed by the more than 100 people waiting in line to be among the first shoppers. Temporary staffing agency Elwood Staffing has scheduled a job fair Friday at the Columbus East Goodwill Career Center.

The fair, set for 9 a.m. to noon, will take place at 6707 Flat Rock Court in the Midland area of Columbus.

The staffing company, which has an office in LaGrange, Ga., is looking for people qualified in the areas of automotive assembly, production, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, maintenance and forklift operation.

Those interested in one of the positions are required to have a résumé and create a profile at www.elwoodjobs.com.
