Decision Time?

Posted on January 15, 2014

Steve Mele was released by the South Carolina Stingrays today. I texted Steve and asked him if he was headed this way. He replied that he's on waivers in the ECHL for 24 hours. So, right now, he doesn't know.

I don't know how the waiver process works, but I assume that if Steve clears waivers, he'll come back here as the Cottonmouths own his rights. Bottom line is that another ECHL team can claim him, but not another SPHL team.

That's a good news/bad news situation as it'll put the Snakes roster at 19. Somebody will have to go. The issue will have to be resolved by the time the team heads to Fayetteville on Friday.

      Stay tuned.
