Young Harris 84, Columbus State 80: Cougars unable to hold onto double-digit lead

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. -- The Columbus State men's basketball team built a 10-point lead near the midpoint of the second half but couldn't hang on, falling to Young Harris 84-80 on Wednesday night.

It was the Cougars' fourth loss in their last five games.

CSU is 8-6 overall and 2-5 in the Peach Belt Conference. It is in sixth place in the Western Division, pending the outcome of Georgia College's game against North Georgia. Georgia College was 2-4 and North Georgia was 2-3.

Young Harris and Montevallo are tied for second at 4-2. Georgia Southwestern leads at 4-1.

Kenney Funderburk led CSU with 20 points, while Jermaine Morgan added 15. Both came off the bench.

R.J. Sessions scored 13 points to lead the CSU starters, which managed just 35 points.

Isaiah Johnson paced Young Harris with 18 points.
