Alleged shoplifter attempts to steal shrimp, fights employees

Piggly Wiggly employees struggled to detain a 46-year-old alleged shoplifter Wednesday after he reportedly attempted to steal more than $100 worth of shrimp, according to a Columbus Police report.

Mark Tolbert allegedly fought back against the South Lumpkin Road store's workers when he was stopped at about 6:40 p.m. No injuries were listed from the scuffle.

Tolbert reportedly tried to take three bags of jumbo shrimp, worth a total of $107.92. He was charged with obstruction, simple battery and battery.

He was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
