Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) - Fourth-seeded Li Na defeated 28th- seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Tuesday.
Li, a two-time runner-up at this event, had little problems in a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Pennetta in a match that lasted just 67 minutes.
Li, a former French Open champion, lost to Victoria Azarenka in the 2013 final and to Kim Clijsters in 2011.
Up next in the semifinals for Li will be the winner of other quarterfinal on Tuesday between Ana Ivanovic and Eugenie Bouchard. Ivanovic defeated world No. 1 Serena Williams on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals.
