Columbus State's Kristen Carr earns preseason all-conference honors

Columbus State softball player Kristen Carr was named to the preseason all-Peach Belt Conference team, it was announced Tuesday.

She was one of 12 players to make the team. Seven schools placed players on the squad.

Carr, who had a team-high 38 RBIs last season, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, All-PBC first team, Daktronics All-Southeast Region second team and the NFCA All-Southeast Region first team last season.

Carr was second on the CSU team with 12 homers and 10 doubles. She was also 7-2 in 17 appearances as a pitchewr with a 2.15 ERA.

CSU, which has won two straight PBC tournament titles, begins the 2014 season on Feb. 1 as it hosts the PBC/Sunshine State Conference Challenge at South Commons.
