Alleged beer debt sparks fight at 12th Street apartment

William Ortiz's attempts to reclaim loaned beer money turned violent Wednesday night after he reportedly began shoving his alleged debtor, according to a Columbus Police report.

The 33-year-old victim told police that 42-year-old Ortiz began shoving him near their 12th Street apartments after Ortiz confronted him about $0.22 worth of beer he allegedly owed him. No injuries were reported from the fight.

Ortiz also goes by William Ortiz-Ramos, according to the Muscogee County Jail website.

Ortiz was charged with simple battery and taken to Muscogee County Jail.
