Carrie Washington of the Columbus State Lady Cougars basketball team has been named the Peach Belt Conference player of the week.

Washington set a school record for rebounds in a single game with 27 against Georgia Southwestern Saturday. She also led CSU in points on the night with 23.

Columbus State's previous record was held by Phebe Smith, who pulled down 23 boards in a game against West Georgia in 2008.

"It is rare for a weekly honor to go to a player who played only one game, but Washington's effort against Georgia Southwestern was a game for the ages," said Ken Gerlinger, who is the assistant commissioner for communications for the PBC.
