Junior captures crown

January 27, 2014

Columbus State University junior Kelsey Ray was crowned Miss CSU 2014 Sunday.

Ray, who was second runner-up last year, will compete in the Miss Georgia pageant at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in June. The winner of that pageant will move on to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant.

Ray played the guitar and sang "To Make You Feel My Love" for her talent. She was one of eight CSU students competing in the pageant, which included on-stage swimsuit-fitness and evening gown categories as well as a pre-pageant interview.

The daughter of Terry and Teresa Ray, she plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career in speech therapy.

Columbus State's pageant included an outstanding teen competition, which featured seven contestants within the 13-17 age range. Elise Higgins, an eighth-grader at Richards Middle School, won the title.
