San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Johnny Dee scored 17 points as the San Diego Toreros crushed the Gaels of Saint Mary's, 61-43, in West Coast Conference play at Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Also scoring in double figures for the Toreros (13-10, 4-6 WCC) were Duda Sanadze and Dennis Kramer with 14 points apiece, the latter adding eight rebounds as the team won for the second time in as many games.
The Gaels (16-6, 6-3) were led by Brad Waldow with his game-high 18 points, adding nine rebounds, but he was the only player on the team with more than just a single field goal. The loss snapped a four-game win streak by SMC.
The Toreros scored the first points of the night and controlled the action throughout, limiting the visitors to a mere eight field goals in the first half, en route to a 29-18 advantage at the break. Saint Mary's missed all seven chances beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes.
Very little changed for the Gaels after intermission as they converted only 1- of-7 on the perimeter. The team sank a total of just five field goals in the period, allowing San Diego to cruise to the lopsided decision.
The Gaels shot a disastrous 1-of-14 on the outside and 25.0 percent from the floor overall as they posted their fewest points of the season.
Outside of Waldow, the starters for the Gaels combined to make a disappointing 4-of-31 from the floor.
