Brown Avenue bridge ahead of schedule

January 31, 2014

Work is progressing slightly ahead of schedule on the long-awaited replacement Brown Avenue bridge between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Cusseta Road, said Department of Transportation area engineer Mark Williams.

"According to our progress schedule, we're slightly ahead," he said. "That's pretty good going through the winter months."

The DOT approved funding for the 70-plus-year-old bridge late in 2012 and work began in early 2013. Williams said he expects the $10 million project to be complete by April 2015, if not before.
