Man arrested for pointing toy gun on Broadway

A 49-year-old Columbus man was jailed Friday night after police said he pointed a toy gun at another man on Broadway downtown.

David Lucier was charged after a downtown patron pointed him out to police. Lucier was charged with pointing a pistol at another and disorderly conduct. He was still held at Muscogee County Jail late Saturday.

Officer Gene House said he was working security on Broadway when he was flagged down about a man with a gun. The officer found the man in the 1100 block on the sidewalk.

Lucier first said he didn’t have a gun but later said a gun was in his backpack. He told the officer it was a toy with the orange tip.

A witness told police that Lucier showed the weapon in his waistband before he walked down the street and pointed the toy weapon at him.

Police seized the toy gun and took Lucier to jail.
