Recap: DePaul vs. Providence

Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryce Cotton scored a game-high 28 points and handed out six assists as the Providence Friars posted a 77-72 win over the DePaul Blue Demons in Big East Conference action at the Allstate Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for Providence (16-6, 6-3 Big East) were LaDontae Henton and Tyler Harris with 19 and 18 points, respectively, while Kadeem Batts contributed nine rebounds in an effort to offset his 1-of-6 shooting performance as the team won for the sixth time in the last seven outings.

The Blue Demons (10-12, 2-7) were led by RJ Curington who came off the bench to tally 22 points, while Tommy Hamilton posted 13 and eight boards, followed by Brandon Young with 12 points and a game-high nine assists in the setback.

With just over eight minutes gone by in the first half, the Friars found themselves with a 13-point lead and eventually stretched the advantage to 16 before having to settle for a 42-37 edge at the break. Providence scored 10 points off turnovers through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half both squads shot a shade over 42 percent from the floor, but the visitors also outscored DePaul at the free-throw line in the period, 18-9, to capture the victory.

Providence forced 16 turnovers as it survived generating a mere two points off the bench.
