La Roche sur Yon, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Julien Benneteau and Gael Monfils won singles matches Sunday to complete France's sweep of Australia in the first round of the 2014 Davis Cup.

The French had already clinched the best-of-five tie thanks to Richard Gasquet and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who each won singles matches Friday and teamed for a doubles victory Saturday.

Benneteau captured Sunday's first reverse singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Thanasi Kokkinakis and Monfils made it a 5-0 rout with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 triumph over Nick Kyrgios.

The French, who won a first-round tie for the fifth straight year, will next battle Germany in the quarterfinals in April. The Germans knocked off Spain this weekend.

Australia was playing in the world group for the first time since 2007.
