Lakeisha Ross, 27, of Columbus was arrested Saturday and charged with reckless conduct.

According to the police report, a Columbus police officer was flagged down by a woman near the Booker T. Washington Apartments, close to the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Ffith Avenue.

The woman told the officer that she had stopped a small child from crossing Veterans Parkway. She did not know where the child lived.

As the officer walked into the apartment complex, another small child came along and told the officer that it was her brother he had and she could show the officer where they lived.

The report says the boy is three years old and his sister is four years old.

Ross, the mother of the children, told the officer she knew the children were playing outside by the steps of her apartment and she walked away so she could use the bathroom.

The officer estimated that the apartment is more than 1,000 feet away from the road.
