High school basketball roundup: Glenwood wins region championships

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Glenwood Lady Gators finally won an AISA Class AAA Region 1 championship for coach Julie Humphries.

Tamera McClain scored 17 points and Elizabeth Perdue scored 15 as the Lady Gators routed nemesis Lee-Scott 53-21 on Monday night to win the title.

It was the first for the Lady Gators in Humphries' eight years as coach.

In the boys championship game, Ant Holtzclaw and Jalen Thomas scored 14 points apiece as Glenwood beat Evangel 70-44. Alex Hicks, the tournament's MVP, added 12. Holtzclaw and Thomas made the all-tourney team.Monday at Macon-East
