Quarterback Wyatt Peterson will remain a Viking.

But next season he will not be wearing the red and white of Pacelli but the blue and silver of Berry College.

Peterson signed with the Mount Berry, Ga., school in an afternoon ceremony Wednesday at the high school. His proud parents, Suzi Peterson and Col. Jay Peterson, were by his side.

Wyatt was the Region 4-A offensive player of the year last season. An effective runner and passer, he was responsible for 24 total touchdowns and more than 1,900 yards.

His coach Randy Grace called him "one of the best players to ever come through St.-Anne-Pacelli."

"Berry College just got better. Its football team just got better," Grace said.

He expects the senior to contend for the starting job as a freshman at Berry.

The quarterback said that Berry, a Division III school, was looking for a mobile quarterback.

"I believe I will be throwing the ball a little more there than I did here," he said.

He said he has always dreamed of playing college football. Though, he won't be with a program such as LSU or Alabama, he said he feels "blessed" to be going to Berry.

"The campus is just awesome," he said. I am looking forward to helping the team any way that I can. It is going to be fun."
