Synovus honors employees with Chairman’s Awards

The annual Synovus Chairman’s Awards were announced Wednesday and the recipients are:

• The James H. Blanchard Leadership Award — Rick Gordy, senior director of Commercial Banking for Columbus Bank and Trust; Steve Shoemaker, area sales leader for Synovus Mortgage Corp., a Birmingham, Ala.–based subsidiary of Synovus; and Eddie Norris, chief executive officer of CB&T Bank of Middle Georgia, a Synovus division in Warner Robins, Ga.

• The James D. Yancey Customer Covenant Award — Doug Ivey, business systems analyst, and Ernie Kelly, internal communications manager, both of Synovus; and Rob Phillips, regional market president with NBSC (National Bank of South Carolina), a Synovus division in Columbia, S.C.

• The William B. Turner Humanitarian Award — Linda Yarrell, branch manager of NBSC’s main office in Columbia, S.C.

• The Synovus Game Changer Award, an inaugural honor that recognizes high-performing team members for forward-thinking, innovative ideas — Curtis Perry, chief corporate banking officer with Synovus.
