Former Hardaway standout Marcus Smith has received an invitation to the NFL combine.

The combine will be held Feb. 22-25 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Smith played defensive end for Louisville. The 6-foot-4, 258-pounder is reported by cbssports.com as having a 4.76 40-yard dash time, and he is No. 8 in a ranking of defensive ends.

The website projects him to be drafted in the second or third round. The NFL draft is in May.

Smith won Defensive Player of the Year honors for the American Athletic Conference last season after registering 12.5 sacks. He added a pair of sacks in the Russell Athletic Bowl win over Miami.
