Peoria stops Columbus Cottonmouths 3-2

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Columbus Cottonmouths fell to Peoria 3-2 on Friday night.

Peoria's Tyler Amburgey scored just 40 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead.

Columbus' Dan Bremner tied the game at the 12:20 mark of the first period, Chris Bailer and Levi Lind had the assists.

Garrett Vermeersch gave Peoria the lead for good with a goal at 15:11 of the first period. Taylor Larsen scored the only goal of the second period at 7:46 to give Peoria a 3-1 lead.

Columbus' Jordan Draper scored 15 second into the final period.

Andrew Loewen stopped 23 of 26 shots in goal for Columbus.

The two teams were scheduled to play again Saturday night.
