Rivermen 3, Cottonmouths 2: Snakes fall to Peoria Saturday

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Columbus Cottonmouths fell to the Peoria Rivermen 3-2 Saturday.

Peoria scored all three of its goals in the first period to take an early commanding lead.

The Cottonmouths battled back in the second period and narrowed the gap to 3-2 after goals by Dan Bremner and Tom Maldonado.

Columbus was unable to complete the comeback, however, as both teams went scoreless in the third period.

Goalkeeper Andrew Loewen saved 28 of 31 shots on goal.

The Cottonmouths (16-19) will host Knoxville on Friday and Louisiana on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center.
