The Columbus State Lady Cougars softball team picked up a 2-0 win over Tusculum before falling to Lincoln Memorial 4-2 Sunday in the final day of the Cougar Classic.
Both runs of Game 1 for CSU came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Taylor Turner led off with a double, and Lindsey DeFee hit a two-run homer over the right field wall.

Game 2 did not go quite as well for Columbus State. Lincoln Memorial picked up a run in the bottom of the first and maintained a 1-0 lead until the fourth inning.
Casey Googe hit a solo shot over the wall at left center to put CSU on the board and tie the game.
Lincoln Memorial retook the lead in the bottom of the inning by scoring a run on a throwing error and another on a single.
Googe hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth to narrow the gap to 3-2, but Lincoln Memorial added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning on a single.
Googe went 2-3 with two RBIs in the game for CSU.
Kristen Carr was the losing pitcher. She pitched for six innings and gave up four runs off eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
