Manchester's Hozell Campbell, Kendrick's Kahlia Lawrence named Region 5-AA MVPs

Region 5-AA announced its basketball regular season most valuable players, along with All-Region and All-Academic teams on Monday.

Manchester's Hozell Campbell was named boys MVP and Kendrick's Kahlia Lawrence was tabbed MVP for the girls.

The All-Region first team for boys included three players from Kendrick (Jordan Hall, Jontavis Miles and Kyle Scott-Williams), two from Spencer (Deondre Hubbard and Tarvaraska Davis), two from Manchester (Quin Prather and Demarcus Addie) and one from Jordan (L.D. Jones).

All-Region first team for girls was combrised of three players from Kendrick (Margarnique McKissic, Taylor Farley and Brittany Thompson), two from Spencer (Miara Elmore and Tatyana Griffin), two from Manchester (Ternazha McGruder and Sequoyah Dunlap) and one each from Jordan (Justice Blair) and Chattahoochee County (Carly Cochran).

Prather and Campbell also made All-Academic team for Manchester, along with two from Kendrick (Emmanuel Brown and Miles) and two from Spencer (Anthony Smith and Joseph Usmon).

On the girls side, Lawrence, Lashayla Green and Aleshia Thomason were named All-Academic from Kendrick. Elmore and J'Kierreia Garrett were selected from Spencer, and four--Jasmine Brown, Deaudra Copeland, Precious Owens and Tonjanek Moody--from Manchester. Chattahoochee County had four named (Carly Cochran, Mariah Jackson, Kayla Morton and Alexandria Little). Jordan's Keliah Jones was also selected.
