Racing rolls in opener against Colon

Buenos Aires, Argentina ( - Racing's Clausura campaign got off to a great start as the club opened the season with a 3-0 home victory against Colon.

Valentin Viola got the scoring started in the 38th minute with an acrobatic finish from Diego Villar's cross, while Gabriel Hauche scored in first-half stoppage time from a tight angle to double the advantage.

Hauche then turned provider shortly before the final whistle when he set up Luciano Vietto's goal which was finished off from 10 yards.

Olimpo also got its new season off to a flying start with a 2-0 victory over last season's champion, San Lorenzo, on Friday.

The match entered the second half without a goal until Ezequiel Miralles changed that in the 68th minute for Olimpo.

Teammate Ivan Furios netted a goal of his own four minutes later, and San Lorenzo had no way back into the game after a red card to Santiago Gentiletti

Also on Friday, Estudiantes edged Arsenal, 1-0, through a first-half own goal from Diego Braghieri, while Velez Sarsfield and Tigre finished in a 0-0 draw.

Argentinos Juniors secured a 2-1 win over Godoy Cruz with goals from Leonardo Pisculichi and Lucas Cano before Mauro Obolo netted a consolation tally for Godoy.

Atletico Rafaela salvaged a 1-1 home draw with All Boys as Rodrigo Depetris scored the equalizer in the 84th minute, Hernan Encina's first-half goal was enough for Rosario Central in a 1-0 win at Quilmes, Newell's and Boca Juniors played to a 0-0 draw, River Plate topped Gimnasia, 1-0, through Leonardo Ponzio's goal, and on Monday, Lanus and Belgrano split the points in a 2-2 draw.
