Muscogee County schools, others delayed opening today; Fort Benning schools closed

The Muscogee County School District has a delayed opening Thursday.

All MCSD schools will open two hours later than normal. Here are some more details, according to communications director Valerie Fuller:

• All school start times (elementary, middle, and high schools) delayed by two hours. • Administrative office openings will also be delayed by two hours for all employees. • Crossing guards will also delay reporting to work by 2 hours. • All buses will run two hours later than the normal scheduled pick-up time. • Sack breakfast and regular lunch will be served at all schools. • The Columbus Parks and Recreation Before School Program is cancelled for Thursday morning. • The Columbus Parks and Recreation After School program will be in session Thursday afternoon. • All after school activities and events are still scheduled unless otherwise notified of cancellation.

St. Luke School, ELC and PreSchool will delay opening Thursday until 10 a.m. Staff should report at 9:30 a.m.

Fort Benning schools will be closed Thursday.

Harris County and Phenix City public schools also will open two hours later than normal Thursday. Their buses will pick up students two hours later than their normal as well.

Russell County public schools will open at 10 a.m., with buses running 90 minutes later than normal. Russell County school employees should report to work at 9:30 a.m.

Hallie Turner Private School will open for day classes at 9:40 a.m. Thursday.

Glenwood School will start at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Troup County and Lanett schools will be closed Thursday.

Chattahoochee Valley Community College will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, cancelling all evening classes and activities. CVCC will delay opening Thursday until 9 a.m.

The Chattahoochee Valley Libraries will open two hours later than normal Thursday.

Auburn University will resume normal operations and classes at 5 p.m. Thursday. Tiger Transit will not operate on Thursday. Limited campus dining venues will be open for on-campus residents.
