Phenix City police are trying to find the name of a man who was hit by a car and killed Tuesday night.

"The man had no identification on him," said Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. "Police are investigating and might be able to find out who he is by his fingerprints."

The black male, believed to be in his 30s, was wearing dark clothing and may have been trying to cross North Seale Road in the rain when he was struck.

Sumbry said the man died of blunt force trauma to the head and other parts of his body.

"He was pronounced dead at 9:52 p.m." said Sumbry.

The body was found in the street.

Sumbry said he had no information on the driver or the kind of vehicle involved in the incident.
