Solons Support Drinks Move
Muscogee County legislators agreed in a strategy session today to support a move which would allow Columbus and four other Georgia cities to sell mixed drinks.
House members from four Georgia counties, including Muscogee, said they will need to amend a local bill offered by the Fulton County delegation so as to permit their home counties to join Fulton in issuing pouring licenses.
Six Negro pupils entered Notulsugia High School today under cover of a new federal court order and a strong force of State Troopers.
The State Board of Education, meanwhile, today accredited Macon Academy in Tuskegee, a high school established to sidestep integrated schools in Macon County.
Local Men Honored
Columbus heaped honors on two of its citizens Thursday night.
Clason Kyle was named "Young Man of the Year" at the annual Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award Banquet. And George A. Keller received a plaque from the Columbus Exchange Club as "Patrolman of the Year."
