Dalton Rentz, CVCC cruise past Georgia Highlands 6-3

The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates baseball team rolled past Georgia Highlands 6-3 at home Friday.

CVCC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first after an RBI by Trevor Kieboom. Jeff Ronpirin added another run in the second, and the Pirates scored three runs in the fourth inning, starting with Ronpirin stealing home.

Starting pitcher Dalton Rentz pitched a no-hitter through the first six innings.

"Rentz was in complete control," coach Adam Thomas said. "They had no chance. One we stole home and scored three in the fourth that was it."

CVCC had six runs, 12 hits and two errors in the game. Kieboom went 2-3 with two RBIs, and Tyler Lynn went 2-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Rentz picked up his second win of the season. He pitched six and 1-3 innings and gave up three hits and two earned runs with eight strikeouts and one walk.

CVCC (6-1) will host Abraham Baldwin in a doubleheader today at 1 p.m.
