Lady Cougars hold off Georgia College for 65-54 win

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- The Columbus State Lady Cougars held off Georgia College for a 65-54 win Saturday.

CSU started off with a 13-1 lead at the 14:09 mark of the first half.

Georgia College went on a 14-7 run to narrow the gap to five points at 20-15 eight minutes later, but the Lady Cougars finished the half on a 12-8 run to take a 32-23 lead into the break.

The second half would prove to be much closer, as Georgia College narrowed the gap to 41-37 with just under 15 minutes left in the contest.

Georgia College managed to take its first lead of the game at 43-41 at the 12:11 mark, but two jump shots by Chatil Bradford put CSU back on top.

The game would end up tied three more times before Columbus State pulled away by ending the game on a 14-3 run.

Tae Smith led the team with 17 points. Bradford had 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Asha Alexander tallied 13 points.

Carrie Washington scored 10 points and led the team with 19 rebounds, and Dee Dee Deshazer totaled six points.

CSU is now 15-5 overall and 10-4 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Lady Cougars will travel to play GRU Augusta today starting at 2 p.m.
