Radford pitchers shut down Georgia Tech in 3-1 win

ATLANTA -- Dylan Nelson and Michael Costello allowed Georgia Tech just two hits in leading Radford to a 3-1 win Saturday in the Battle in Midtown at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Nelson (1-0) threw six hitless innings for Radford for the win. He gave up the one earned run in the fourth inning by walking two Yellow Jackets and hitting a third. Tech's Matt Gonzalez then hit a sacrifice fly that scored the Jackets only run.

Costello pitched the final three innings for Radford and got the save. Mott Hyde and A.J. Murray got Tech's two hits off Costello.

Zac Ryan (0-1) took the loss in relief.

On Sunday, Radford plays Old Dominion at 10 a.m. and Tech plays VCU at 2 p.m.
